The Ninth EU-Macao Joint Committee, and the third since the handover of Macao to the People's Republic of China on 19 December 1999, took place in Brussels on 18 October 2002. The EU emphasised the importance it attaches to full implementation of the Macao Special Administrative Region's (MSAR) Basic Law. It reaffirmed the positive conclusions of its Second Annual Report on the Macao Special Administrative Region, published on 31 July 2002 and welcomed the ongoing consolidation of the Region's governmental institutions and the improved economic situation in the MSAR. |
