Press Release: New EU Regulation on international mobile roaming: Commission opens final phase of consultations

The European Commission on 3 April 2006 opened, as announced on 28 March, the second and final phase of consultations on an EU regulation to bring down international roaming charges. This new EU regulation, which would introduce the 'home pricing' principle for using mobile phones abroad, could come into effect by summer 2007, provided that the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers would be able to agree on a final text by then.
