The introduction of the rounding rule will lead to a reduction in the circulation of 1- and 2-euro cent coins in the Netherlands. The coins will not be abolished, but remain legal tender, as the abolition of these coins is a European matter. Research done during the duration of the pilot shows that 83% of consumers is either in favour of (65%) or neutral (18%) towards rounding rule. The percentage of consumers against the rounding rule decreased by 50% a month after the start of the pilot, from 32% against to 16% against. 95% of the retailers are in favour |
