Press Release: Negotiations on EU-Algeria Association Agreement concluded

European Commission President Prodi met with President Bouteflika of Algeriaon on 19 December 2001 and bot were able to reach a successful conclusion of the negotiations for the EU-Algeria Euro-Mediterranean Association Agreement. The text of the proposed Agreement between Algeria and the EU will be jointly initialled by the two negotiators in the presence of Presidents Prodi and Bouteflika and of Commissioner for External Relations Chris Patten and Commissioner for Trade Pascal Lamy, This act formally concludes negotiations on a new framework for the deepening of bilateral relations between the European Union and Algeria.
