The United Kingdom Department for Trade and Industry confirmed, on 27 August 2002, that Ministers would withdraw from the competition aspects of EC merger cases. From 3 September, the Office of Fair Trading took sole charge of UK competition advice to the European Commission on mergers falling to the EC Merger Regulation. |
