Press Release: Minister Roche notes issue of opinion of Advocate General in the European Court Of Justice case By Commission against Ireland

The Irish Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Dick Roche, on 18 January 2006, noted the issue of the Opinion by the Advocate General in the action taken by the European Commission against Ireland on the right of Member States to have access to the dispute resolution procedures provided under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). The European Commission initiated these proceedings in 2003 to establish whether the European Court had jurisdiction over Ireland's litigation against the UK regarding the nuclear facility at Sellafield.
