On the conclusion, on 23 April 2004, of the 60th session of the UN Commission on Human Rights, the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Brian Cowen, welcomed the positive role and successes of the European Union at the Commission. As Presidency of the European Union, Ireland spoke for and represented the Union at the Commission. In particular, Minister Cowen strongly welcomed the adoption, and margin of victory, of a resolution against the death penalty. |
