The Irish Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mary Coughlan, on 8 April 2008, responded to the new measures that had been agreed at the EU's Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health (SCOFCAH) in relation to movements of cattle and sheep out of bluetongue-restricted zones. She commented that, since the initial outbreak of bluetongue in Member States in 2006, she and her Department had been determined to maintain Ireland's disease-free status. |
