Press Release: Mergers: Commission refers part of Cronimet’s, Remondis’ and Alfa Acciai’s proposed acquisition of TSR to German competition authority; approves the rest

The European Commission has referred certain German aspects of the proposed acquisition of TSR by Cronimet, Remondis and Alfa Acciai to the German competition authority (Bundeskartellamt), for examination under German national competition law, as the acquisition threatens to affect competition significantly on certain scrap markets in Germany and on the German market for the recycling of cooling systems. The notified operation does not give rise to any competition concerns in the European Economic Area (EEA) other than these aspects, and the Commission has therefore approved the rest of the deal under the EU Merger Regulation.
