The European Commission on 14 November 2005 opened an in-depth investigation under the EU Merger Regulation into the planned acquisition by T-Mobile Austria of competitor Tele.Ring. Both companies provided mobile telephony services in Austria. The Commission’s initial market investigation had found that the proposed acquisition had the potential to create significant competition problems by removing Tele.Ring as a competitor in the market for end consumers. |
