The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed take-over of Foster Yeoman by Aggregate Industries, both of the UK, as far as markets outside the UK are concerned. The investigation has shown that the proposed transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it. At the same time, at the request of the UK’s Office of Fair Trading (OFT), the Commission has referred the examination of the impact of the proposed acquisition on the UK aggregates, asphalt and road surfacing market to the OFT. |
