The European Commission on 5 April 2006 cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of the German insurance group Gerling by the insurer Talanx. The Commission's clearance was conditional upon the divestiture of parts of the pharmaceutical liability insurance business of HDI, a subsidiary of Talanx. In light of these commitments, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it. |
