The European Commission on 20 September 2005 cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed creation of a joint venture between HeidelbergCement AG of Germany, acting through its Belgian subsidiary Inter-Beton NV ('Inter-Beton'), and De Hoop Terneuzen B.V. of The Netherlands, by the acquisition of joint control of the Belgian company Mermans Beton N.V. The investigation had shown that the proposed transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it . |
