Press Release: Mergers: Commission approves acquisition of Schneidersöhne Papier by Stora Enso

The European Commission on 25 July 2005 cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of Schneidersöhne Papier, the German paper merchanting company with sales in various EU Member States, by Stora Enso, the Finnish industrial group active in the production and sale of paper, board, pulp and sawn timber. After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
