The European Parliament's plenary session vetoed on 20 January 2016 a draft proposal allowing baby foods to continue to contain up to three times more sugar than is recommended by the World Health Organisation. Members of the parliament considered that the draft laws failed to protect infants and young children against obesity. Instead, MEPs advocated reducing the European Union's sugar content limit to match the WHO recommendations. |
