Press Release: MEPs clamp down on wasteful use of plastic carrier bags

The European Parliament approved in plenary on 28 April 2015 a draft law which requires European Union's member states to reduce the use of the commonest and most polluting plastic bags drastically.

The text was approved following an agreement with the Council of the European Union, which had already voted the proposal in December 2014. The Directive was adopted following the signature by the EP and the Council.
