Press Release: MEPs approve measures to ease cross-border recovery of small debts

The European Parliament approved in plenary on 7 October 2015 the draft proposal regarding the European Smaill Claims Procedure. The new law allows citizens and small firms to use the simplified procedure to resolve low-value disputes across borders.

Changes still needed to be formally approved by the Council of the European Union before the adoption of the new regulation. The reviewed procedure was expected to raise the ceiling on debts recoverable using the procedure from €2,000 to €5,000.
