On 27.2.01 Mr. Colin Powell, US Secretary of State, visited the European Commission and was received by the President of the Commission, Mr. Romano Prodi and Commissioner for External Relations, Mr. Chris Patten. After the meeting President Prodi said that he was very pleased to have had an early opportunity to meet the Secretary of State. During the meeting he had outlined to Secretary Powell the challenges and opportunities which the imminent introduction of the Euro and the ambitious process of enlargement represent for the EU. A number of areas of common interest were also discussed, in particular the Western Balkans and the Middle East. |
