Following the death of two US farmers after accidentally self-injectioning the veterinary medicine 'Tilmicosin' while treating their cows the European Commission decided to tighten the rules for its use in the EU. In order to prevent such fatal events in the EU, the European Commission decided to harmonise and strengthen the warnings in the product information. In addition, following scientific advice, it was decided that Micotil, as which Tilmicosin was marketed in fifteen EU Member States, could only be administered by veterinarians in future. |
