Press Release: Mandelson: “Europe has to accept fierce competition. China has to ensure it is fair competition”

On the 24 October 2006 European Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson set out a wide-ranging new policy for building the European Union's trade and investment relationship with China. Mandelson's strategy review, which is part of the wider Global Europe trade policy framework launched earlier in October 2006, reflects the dramatic changes in EU-China trade and the importance of managing China's new weight in the global trading system.
