Press Release: Lord Chancellor calls for greater cross-border awareness in European commercial litigation

The UK Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine, on 6 June 2003, called for judges in the European Union to be more conversant with the litigation procedures in other Member States, to ensure quicker and more effective justice in cross-border cases. He was speaking at the inaugural European Commercial Judges Forum, which took place in London from 5-7 June 2003. Please note that the Lord Chancellor's Department was abolished in 2003 and replaced by a new Department for Constitutional Affairs.
