Press Release: Local representatives of CENTRU Region pay their first visit to Brussels after Romania’s accession to the European Union

European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Danuta Hübner, met Presidents and Vice-Presidents of 6 counties of CENTRU Region in Romania on 22 January 2007. Romania's development level amounts at 34.6% of the EU 25 average. Even if GDP/capita registered in CENTRU Region was slightly above the national average, this region is still one of the less developed parts of Europe. Romania's accession to the European Union means for this region a great chance for catching up.
