Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission, wrote to the President of the Republic of Korea on 26 September 2001 congratulating him on winning the World Statesman Award. In his letter, Mr Prodi said that the European Union attached great importance to President Kim Dae Jung's personal efforts to promote peace and reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula. |
