The Commission has given the green light for over 30,000 Europeans to benefit from a period of training abroad in 2000. While this figure concerns the 15 member States of the European Union plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, the pre-accession countries will join the programme in the summer of 2000 and thus raise the number of participating countries to 30 and the budget to €69,5m. Over the whole programme period, 2000-2006, around 250,000 people are expected to take the opportunity to acquire new skills or gain work experience in another country through the Leonardo da Vinci programme. |
