Press Release: Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro : Commission approves humanitarian aid worth 61 million Euro

The European Commission has approved funding for humanitarian aid worth 61 million Euro in Kosovo, Serbia and Montenegro. Managed by ECHO, the European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office, the aid will enable UN agencies, the Red Cross movement and non-governmental agencies to carry out projects. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is ECHO's main partner in the region. The objective is to continue covering the most urgent needs throughout the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, including Kosovo. The funding is divided as follows: Kosovo approximately 18.1 million Euro ; Serbia 31.9 million Euro ; Montenegro 5.3 million Euro. There is a contingency reserve of 5.7 million Euro. Prior Commission decisions to date for those affected by the Kosovo crisis amount to 378 million Euro.
