Press Release: June 2005: Slight improvement of economic sentiment in the euro area, decline in the EU

Business and consumers surveys for June 2005 suggest a bottoming out of economic sentiment. In the euro area, the economic sentiment indicator (ESI) rose slightly by 0.2 points, following its almost uninterrupted decline since October 2004. In the EU, the ESI fell slightly by 0.3 points; but the rate of decline observed since April 2005 is continuing to slow.
