European Commissioner for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, Joe Borg, arrives in Romania on 10 October 2006 for a two-day visit. Commissioner Borg will be able to see for himself the substantial progress made by Romania in integrating the acquis in relation to the Common Fisheries Policy. He will also congratulate the Romanian authorities on the successful completion of the accession process which will see Romania become a member of the EU in January 2007. The visit will first take Commissioner Borg to Bucharest where he will meet with Romania’s Prime Minister, Mr Calin Popescu-Tariceanu as well as a number of Ministers. On Thursday, he will go to the port of Constanta before leaving Romania in the afternoon to start a visit to Bulgaria, that will take him to Varna and Sofia. |
