Press Release: Joe Borg visits Bulgaria

Commissioner for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Joe Borg leaves Romania on 12 October 2006 to begin a two-day visit to Bulgaria. This visit will take place just weeks after the European Commission announced its decision on the accession of Bulgaria, along with Romania, to the European Union on 1 January 2007. The Commissioner will begin his visit in the Black Sea port of Varna, where he will meet with stakeholders and witness the many advances in integrating the latest fisheries management tools. He will then move on to Sofia on Friday, for meetings with the President of Bulgaria and senior ministers.
