Press Release: Jacob Söderman congratulates Nikiforos Diamandouros on his election victory

Nikiforos Diamandouros was elected as the European Ombudsman by the European Parliament on 15 January 2003. He will take up the post of European Ombudsman on 1 April of this year when Mr. Söderman retires after seven and a half years as the EU's first Ombudsman. Mr. Diamandouros is currently the National Ombudsman of Greece, having been appointed Greece's first National Ombudsman in 1998.
