A Europe wide project to combat cross border homicide was launched in The Hague on 19 January 2005 by the Europol Homicide Working Group. The project brings together law enforcement representatives from 21 countries, in a bid to share and analyse murder data from across Europe. Senior police officers hope that the project will bring a better understanding of the scale of cross border homicide, and leave countries better equipped to prevent it. The project, which is funded by the European Commission AGIS Programme, will also look at ballistic intelligence systems, homicide prevention and violent crime trends, including gun crime and gang behaviour. |
