The European Commission on 6 July 2005 took steps against Austria, Poland and France, because these Members States made the import of cars difficult. All three cases, which were at varying stages of the infringement procedure, constituted impediments to the free movement of goods. Austria required unnecessary double checks of conformity prior to the importation of cars. Poland maintained obstacles to the registration of imported second hand cars while certain obstacles still existed in France concerning registration of imported vehicles. |
