The findings of a special Eurobarometer survey of 10,000 young Europeans between the ages of 15 and 24, carried out in April and May 2001 at the request of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education and Culture were published on 8 November 2001. The survey also gauged the opinions of young people on the big issues affecting today's society, such as the integration of foreigners, sexuality and cloning. Young EU citizens show low levels of participation in clubs and societies, make increasing use of the new information and communications technologies, want independence in a secure environment, and support European Integration.
