The European Commission has decided to pursue legal action against Greece over breaches of three EU laws to protect the environment and public health. The Commission is sending Greece a first written warning for failing to comply fully with a Court of Justice (ECJ) ruling of 2006 concerning the protection of the ozone layer. The Commission will also bring two cases against Greece before the Court. The first concerns Greece's failure to properly protect Special Protection Areas under the EU's Wild Birds Directive, and the second for not reporting on important aspects of the EU directive on the protection of water bodies in the European Union. |
