The European Court of Human Rights issued on the 30 March 2016 its judgement regarding the case of Application no. 5878/08: Armani Da Silva v. the United Kingdom - an investigation into fatal shooting in the London Underground of Jean Charles de Menezes, a Brazilian national mistakenly
identified by the police as a suicide bomber, on the 22 July 2005.

In its judgment the European Court of Human Rights held, by 13 votes to four, that there had been: no violation of Article 2 (right to life – investigation) of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Jean Charles de Menezes' cousin Patricia da Silva Armani, said the family were 'deeply disappointed' by the ruling.
