Press Release: Government gets wide backing for CAP reform

A consultation begun by the UK Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in July 2002, on changes to the Common Agricultural Policy proposed by the European Commission, found a broad level of support from a range of bodies. The UK government believed that the Commission's proposals were on the right lines but did not go far enough, a view shared by most of those who responded.
