Jeffrey Immelt, Chairman and CEO of General Electric, was chosen by the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany as this year's recipient of the Transatlantic Partnership Award, presented on October 24 at a ceremony held in the Berlin Museum for Communication. Chancellor Gerhard Schröder praised Immelt as a friend of Germany who has made a unique contribution to economic relations between the two countries. In a congratulatory speech Schröder noted that Immelt has always taken the view that good trade relations constitute a solid foundation that helps to keep things smooth in politically difficult times, adding that General Electric has expanded its investments in Germany under his management |
