Press Release: Germany: Reconciling the people with Europe

Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and French President Jacques Chirac wish to regain public confidence in the process of European unification. To this end they feel an agreement needs to be reached as soon as possible in the current dispute over the EU budget. Speaking at a press conference in Paris, Schröder and Chirac reiterated their support for continuing the process of ratifying the European constitution
