Press Release: Freedom of establishment in the EU: the European Commission takes legal action against the Netherlands for failing to comply with a judgment of the Court of Justice

The European Commission on 7 July 2005 sent a letter of formal notice to the Netherlands for failing to take the necessary measures to comply with a judgment delivered by the European Court of Justice on the right of establishment of foreign shareholders of companies owning seagoing ships, of foreign directors of such companies and of shipping companies owning seagoing ships registered in the Netherlands.
