Press Release: Flexicurity debate steps up a gear

European Ministers discuss for the first time, September 2007, the European Commission's proposals to agree a common approach to flexicurity – strategies to combine flexibility and security for workers and companies – at a major event in Lisbon. The conference, hosted by the Portuguese EU Presidency, brought together workers' and employers' representatives, NGOs and experts. Its conclusions will feed into the common principles on flexicurity due to be agreed by EU leaders in December 2007.
