A study on the impact of the economic downturn and conservation measures on the fishing industry was published by Seafish, the UK industry authority, on 8 September 2009. The study was commissioned by the Scottish Government earlier in the year to assess the economic impact of the Cod Recovery Plan, the west of Scotland restrictions and the economic downturn. It demonstrates to the European Commission the financial difficulties facing fishermen. |
