Press Release: European Medicines Agency recommends first vaccine for foot-and-mouth disease for authorisation at EU level

The European Medicines Agency’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use (CVMP), on 17 May 2013, recommended the marketing authorisation for Aftovaxpur DOE for use in response to outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). The vaccine is intended for active immunisation of cattle and sheep from 2 months of age and pigs from 10 weeks of age to reduce clinical signs of the disease.

The applicant for Aftovaxpur DOE is Merial.
