Press Release: European Commission welcomes wide ranging fisheries agreements with Norway

Joe Borg, European Commissioner for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs welcomed the four agreements concluded with Norway in December 2005, which were to form the beginning of a new framework of bilateral relations based on reducing fishing effort, improving control measures and ensuring sustainable management of the shared fishing resources. The agreements were to cover the following areas: Blue whiting; Atlanto-Scandian (Norwegian spring-spawning) herring; Landing in Norwegian ports; Transit; Mackerel.
