Press Release: European Commission gives green light to Romanian State aid for the coal industry

The European Commission decided on 10 October 2007 not to raise objections to the restructuring plan for the Romanian coal industry notified by the country's authorities for the period of 2007-2010. The State aid amounts to €411,000,000 and is aimed at maintaining access to coal reserves in the country to ensure energy security of supply.
