The European Commission adopted a new five-year strategy (2002-2006) on 2 August 2002 for its co-operation with the Republic of Argentina. The Country Strategy Paper (CSP) provides a provisional framework for co-operation programmes with Argentina which is experiencing an exceptionally difficult crisis. The financial and economic crisis of the late nineties, has now also become a major social and political one. The main objective of the European Commission's present strategy in Argentina under these conditions is support for government efforts to reform the administration of the State, fight against poverty and unemployment and develop trade. An indicative figure of € 65,7 million has been agreed to support this strategy. |
