Press Release: Europe must promote the benefits of its standards

During their annual meeting in Brussels on 10 June 2004, European Commissioners Liikanen and Figel and the three European Standards Organisations (ESOs) discussed the main achievements of the past year as well as the evolution of standardisation policy.

The ESOs' main aim at the meeting was to introduce the idea of developing 'common European standardisation objectives' through their Joint Presidents' Group, while Mr Liikanen took the opportunity to stress the Commission's wish to raise awareness of standardisation in all possible spheres.
