Press Release: EU to announce €100 million development package for Sudan to address root causes of irregular migration and forced displacement

During a visit to Sudan on 5 April 2016, the European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica discussed increased EU cooperation with Sudan on issues of common interest. He also announced a €100 million Special Measure for the country, to be implemented under the EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa. This Trust Fund was set up in 2015 to tackle instability and the root causes of irregular migration and forced displacement.
