Press Release: EU Sustainable Development Strategy: public hearing on 26 and 27 April 2001

On 26-27 April 2001 the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee held a joint public hearing in Brussels on the EU Sustainable Development Strategy which will be adopted by the Göteborg European Council in June 2001. The hearing provided a platform for stakeholders (businesses, trade unions, NGOs, the academic world) and public authorities to express their views on the European Commission's consultation paper on the strategy and to contribute to shaping the Commission's final proposal and the Göteborg European Council conclusions.
