ON 13.11.00, the EU requested WTO consultations with the United States because of the continued imposition by the US of countervailing duty measures against important European Steel producers, such as AST, Ilva and Cogne in Italy, Usinor and GTS in France, Corus in the UK, Aceralia in Spain and Dillinger in Germany . These consultations were in response to the failure of the US to take appropriate steps to remove these duties following the findings of the 'British Steel' case in May 2000. |
