Press Release: EU membership has given Poland more weight in Europe and Europe more weight in the world, Commissioner Hübner tells Torun Economic Forum

Regional Policy Commissioner Danuta Hübner opened the XVI Economic Forum in Torun, Poland, with a speech entitled 'Poland: the balance sheet after five years in the EU'. The Commissioner recalled that 2009 marked three important milestones: the 20th anniversary of the round-table talks which gave Poland freedom after communism, the 10th anniversary of Poland's accession to NATO which strengthened its security, and the fifth anniversary of membership of the European Union which has brought considerable political, social and economic advances for Poland.
