Press Release: EU introduces more efficient monitoring of drinking water for better protection of public health

The European Commission adopted on 28 October 2015 rules to improve the monitoring of drinking water across the European Union, aimed at improving access to wholesome and clean drinking water.

The amendments to the Drinking Water Directive was seen as a first step following the European Citizens' Initiative Right2Water, a response to calls by citizens and the European Parliament to adopt legislation ensuring a better, fair and comprehensive water supply.
